Happy New Year!

January 1, 2021

Good morning!

The LORD has brought us to not only a new day but a new year. What will it bring? If the past two are any indication then I shudder to think! The new year brings two certainties: God is still on His throne, and one day all this will pass away.
Today as never before we are facing difficult times. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3 beginning in verse 1: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Paul tells us these things will happen in “the last days” and gives us a laundry list of attributes those who are living in the last days will have, but since the fall of Adam in the garden these characteristics have plagued mankind.

Let’s turn our attention to verse 5. Paul warns us that these folks will have a “form of godliness” about them as well. The word “form” appears only here and in Romans 2:20 where Paul admonishes the Jewish teachers for teaching others principles that they themselves do not adhere to. By outward appearance they have the proper form which means a mere form or semblance of the truth. In short, they have head knowledge but not heart knowledge; yet they present themselves to be something they are not. The outward trappings may be of holy robes, priests’ collars, and a PhD. before their names yet they themselves “deny the power” of God in their own lives. They are the wolves in sheep’s clothing the LORD warned us of. (Matthew 7:15) They are the “tares” sown by the enemy in Matthew 13:25. “They are spots in your feasts of charity” (Jude 12) Paul tells us to “turn away” from them, but how do we know who they are? Prayer, primarily, and the test of time: 1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. Pray for the Spirit to let you see the true nature; I have used this many times and have never been led astray. And thankfully, a pretender can only maintain the facade for so long; they will manifest their true nature.
Everyday we are bombarded with images, voices, and situations that can cause the strongest to yield to the pressures of this present day. The closer the walk with the LORD, the stronger the attack from the enemy will be. And oh the subtle ways he has to sneak in and steal a Christian’s joy!
God does not leave us to our own devices to face the Adversary; in our own strength we can do nothing. We can have a successful walk in this evil day if we are fully armed.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Attending church is not necessary for salvation, but there is no substitution for the support that fellow Christians can give in times of trials and persecutions because sadly, some of the most vicious persecutions come from our own family members who don’t understand our new lives and the joy that we have when we walk with the Lord.
We are guaranteed persecutions if we love the Lord as the Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

But, we are not of them that have no hope. Romans 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

So bring it on 2022! We are ready, and fully equipped to combat whatever this world may throw at us next, for what shall separate us from the love of God?
Take my word for nothing; go to the Source and read it for yourself. And as always to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be all the Glory forever!
