The Devil’s Dirty D’s. #1

lion and doubt
January 15, 2022
Good morning brothers and sisters!
Over the next few weeks let’s take a look at what the devil uses of our emotions and perceived thoughts to take some of our joy away in these troubled times.  Our first installment will be doubt and disbelief.
These dirty deeds of the devil were first done way back in the Garden of Eden when he as the serpent, came to beguile Eve.
Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
Satan begins immediately by placing doubt in Eve’s mind about the Word of God, “hath God said…?” I mean, are you really sure that is what God said? But, in fact that was not what God had said, Eve added her own words to it. She added “neither shall ye touch it”. Adding our own 2 cents to the Word of God is just as bad as taking away from it.
Instead of focusing on the blessing of being able to “eat of the fruit of the TREES” the emphasis of Satan is the restriction God placed on them with the tree of knowledge. The entire Garden of Eden lay before them but Satan through his craftiness was able to place disbelief in Eve’s mind. With a few more words “Ye shall not surely die” the doubt found fertile ground in Eve’s heart to spring up into full grown disbelief. I can almost hear Satan say with a sneer, “You ain’t gonna die! God just knows that if you do eat it, you will be as smart as He is. He just wants to keep you under His thumb!” Satan is still whispering this in the ears of people today. “Why do you want to serve God? He just wants to keep you from having any fun! You can worry about all that salvation junk later! Let’s live it up while we still can!” Falling for Satan’s lies was a big mistake back then, and it is still a huge mistake today.
The Serpent walked into the Garden, but he slithered out a cursed being, as we are told in1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. His sole mission on this earth is to bring down every Christian he can.  We must be “stedfast in the faith” keeping our hearts and minds toward the things of God.
The best way to eliminate doubt and disbelief is to educate yourself. The Bible tells us in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Know the Bible and know no doubt!
Take my word for nothing; go to the Source and read it for yourself.  And as always to our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ be all the glory forever.
